I started playing basketball at a very young age starting with the YMCA league. I played with a bunch of friends from my elementary school and it was a lot of fun! In fourth grade I joined an AAU travel basketball team called Iowa Elite and played with them for 3 years. We won tons of tournaments and got to travel all over the country for our games. In seventh grade I took a break from basketball and returned in eighth grade where I got to play for my middle school. I was on the A and B team and got to play a lot. Freshman year I got injured before we had even our first game and was out for the season with a stress fracture. After this I stoppped playing basketball, however I still love to watch games.
We had season tickets to watch the Iowa State Mens team when I was in elementary school and we would attend most of the games. We sat in the second to last row but the environment was still so much fun. My mom and brother were at Hilton to see an incredible game where Iowa State was down 4 points with 20 seconds left and made a buzzer beater to send the game to over time. Some of the players from that team are now in the NBA like Monte Morris and George Niang.
Caitlin Clark today is a very talented basketball player for the University of Iowa. I started watching her play in highschool when Dowling would take on Valley. My sister played for Valley so I would get to watch her but also took note of Caitlin for how talented she was. After Caitlin graduated highschool we started following the Iowa Hawkeyes Womens team. During my sophmore year of highschool I remember watching their games while I was in my online Zoom meetings.
Caitlin has continued to prove that she is one of the best players in college basketball through record setting performances and the various awards she has won throughtout her career. Some of these include:
Over the past four years I've watched just about every Iowa Womens Basketball game but a few stand out as my favorite.
